RICHARD CHAI SS15 Review
New York Fashion week starts today and it is with great anticipation that we look to see what happens. Richard Chai showed his work on Thursday and the SS15 was inspiring for its concentration on details. Chai showed how pleats, darts and fold can enliven even the most stoic of basics. Combined with cool colors and vibrant metallics and satin, the show inspired.
Playing with a combination of bare shoulders, asymmetry and the folds emphasized by swirls in print, the collection screamed for a great summer in 2015. His shoulder obsession even translated into men’s jackets and we have heard lately how men’s fashion seems to be much more interesting than women’s at the movement (Bless, Una, Bless). The narrow, train stripe pieces were a hit for the men.
For the women, the flouncy dresses and skirts layered over other dresses and skirts contrasted pattern and color. A great opening to New York Fashion week and we hope more continues.
